Hello and welcome to Year 2.
We aim to use the website to keep you informed of our exciting activities throughout the year.
We will be adding exciting information about topics and upcoming events and also photographs of the lovely things the children have been doing!
Here are just a few reminders for you:
Our PE days are on a Wednesday afternoon and due to the current restrictions children may come in to school wearing their black trainers and jogging bottoms/shorts. We are unable to facilitate P.E indoors so due to the unpredictable Welsh weather we will always try and ensure children are as active as possible throughout the week!
Please can children be sent in each day with a healthy snack such as a piece of fruit to have with morning play. We will continue to provide milk for the children every morning.
Dinner money is also due in on a Monday for the week ahead, this must be paid via our electronic 'School Gateway' app (£2.25 per day)
Dojo is a super way of communicating, keeping up to date and sharing the great things the children will be doing in Year 2.
We try our very best to respond quickly to questions during 8 and 5pm.
Reading folders are sent home each day with your child, if possible can you send it back into school each day. It is so important that children get the chance to read and share their books with you at home so please try to do this in short bursts whenever possible.
Also can you check your child's folder as we usually put any letters that need to go home inside.

Fun in the garden!
We use two structured schemes in Year 2 to support children’s development in Literacy and Numeracy
This learning program combines creativity with basic skills and addresses the current need to:
· motivate all children to grow a love of reading and writing.
· raise the standards of spelling simultaneously with reading and handwriting.
· accelerate the achievements of children with additional learning needs.
White Rose Maths
A scheme of work that teaches children mathematical concepts through pictoral, practical and written methods in order to develop a deep understanding, confidence and competence in maths and improve fluency. Fluency in maths is about developing number sense and being able to choose and use the most appropriate method for the task at hand and be able to apply a skill to multiple contexts.
