Welcome to Year 4!

Hello and welcome to our Year 4 class page! We aim to use the website to keep you informed of our exciting activities throughout the year. We will be adding information about topics and upcoming events and also photographs of the lovely things the children have been doing! Please make sure to check our school Twitter account and class Dojo for more information about what the children have been learning about.

Our topic this term is:

ITALY

We have had lots of fun so far learning about the history of Pompeii and the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. We have also researched facts about the three main volcanoes in Italy, taste tested different pizzas, designed our own pizzas and will be making them very soon! We have learned about and sketched The Mona Lisa and The Leaning Tower of Pisa and made a 3D model of the latter. The children have have written their own set of instructional writing and will be creating their own diary entries before Christmas. Ask your children to show you how Romans used to write their numbers - we certainly enjoyed this Maths lesson!

Homework

Below is the link for the children to access their TT Rockstars accounts.

We are encouraging the children to access j2e blast on HWB

Flipped learning videos, which can be accessed on your child's class dojo.

Reading

Reading is so important and we ask that you try and read

as often as you can with your child at home.

Each time your child reads at home and it is logged on their Seesaw account, we will award them with a Dojo!

Class Dojo

ClassDojo is a website that we use in a variety of ways.

You can access it online or by downloading an app.

Each child has their own avatar and they earn points for different things e.g. working hard, reading at home, good manners etc. If they earn 10 points or more in a week they will earn a merit point!

We post information for parents of our individual classes as a Class Story.

We can also send individual messages to parents

if we need to send a quick reminder or message about something.

Muddy Monday

Every Monday we venture outdoors come rain or shine. These sessions are aimed to develop creativity, problem solving, life skills as well as enhancing their basic skills in Maths and English and to allow them to embrace the freedom of the outdoors!

Children leave their wellies and waterproof trousers in school and take them home at the end of every Half Term.
